Magnolia

Magnolia is a general term for the Magnolia genus of plants native to China. The fragrance is extracted from the flowers by steam distillation, and although it depends on the variety of flower used, the scent is a little green and herbal, with a mellow sweet scent unique to thick white flowers. Like roses and jasmine, only a small amount of fragrance can be extracted from a large number of flowers, making it very expensive. In Japan, there is also a magnolia tree of the same genus. It is a large tree that can grow up to 30m tall, and produces large white flowers in June that give off a strong sweet jasmine-like scent.
