cloves
Cloves are a representative spicy note and are extracted from evergreen trees of the Myrtaceae family that grow in the hot and humid South Asian region. Fragrances are extracted from the flower buds, flower stems, and leaves, but clove bud oil, obtained by steam distillation of the flower buds, is most commonly used in fragrances. Its scent is a typical spicy note with a pungent, spicy taste, but it also has a floral sweetness in the background, similar to that of fresh carnations. It is the most popular natural spice used in fragrances, and cloves are almost always used in classic oriental and floral bouquet types.
