Iris

Iris is a plant of the Iridaceae family, native to Italy, France, Morocco, etc. It produces gorgeous purple flowers, but the fragrance of the flowers is weak, and it is the rhizomes that are used as fragrances. The powdered rhizomes are subjected to steam distillation to extract the essential oil. The essential oil at room temperature is solid and called iris butter, and contains a lot of fatty acids, but by removing this, iris absolute is obtained. The profit rate for the raw material is said to be 0.002%, and it is known as one of the most expensive raw materials. The scent is a violet-toned floral, with a slight woody and vetiver-like scent. Floral notes generally appear from the top to middle notes, but iris is characterized by its effect until the end.
