Sandalwood
Sandalwood is a very important fragrance among woody notes. It is a tree of the Santalaceae family, and the fragrance is extracted by steam distillation using the bark or roots of the tree as raw materials. It is also produced in Australia and Western India, but the sandalwood from the state of Mysore in Eastern India is considered to be of the highest quality. In India, sandalwood has been used in various aspects of daily life and Hindu rituals since ancient times. Its scent has a dry woody part like cedarwood, but it also has a mellow milky sweetness, a powdery feeling, and musky notes.
