Patchouli

Patchouli is a tropical plant of the mint family that is cultivated in Sumatra, Madagascar, Brazil, Paraguay, and other countries. New patchouli leaves do not have a scent, but the scent develops when they are stored for a long time and fermented. It is classified as a woody note fragrance, but is quite unique among them, with strong herbal notes, exotic spicy notes, and moist earthy notes. It has been used as a base ingredient in classic oriental and chypre types. It can also be used in small amounts to add an accent to floral or fruity perfumes.
