It originated from the fragrance "LE CHYPRE" released by Coty in 1917, which was based on bergamot, jasmine, and oakmoss, and later became popular around the world as a chypre accord. Some of the most representative chypre-type perfumes are Guerlan's Mitsuko and Dior's Sauvage, and many of these fragrances are still talked about as famous fragrances. Today, many innovative fragrances are being created that go beyond a single accord, such as chypres that use fruity fragrances and modern types of chypres that are lighter in finish.
