Tolu Balsam
Tolu Balsam is a tall tree of the legume family that can grow to 20-25m tall. It is native to Venezuela and Colombia. When the trunk is scratched, brown sap oozes out, which turns reddish brown over time and hardens when exposed to air. The collected sap is extracted with a solvent to obtain essential oil. It has a balsamic scent with a hint of cinnamon. There are several other types of fragrances extracted from the sap besides Tolu Balsam, and in the world of perfume, this sweet scent reminiscent of amber, which is neither floral nor woody, is classified as a balsamic type. Tolu Balsam is also used in Libeltaperfume's woody oriental.
