coriander

Coriander is an annual plant in the family Apiaceae, which is the order Apiaceae. Cilantro and coriander refer to the same plant, and although it is a difference between Thai and English, the spice made from dried leaves and seeds is often called coriander, while the leaves for eating raw are often called cilantro. Coriander ESS is extracted from the leaves, and coriander seed ESS is extracted from the seeds. The fragrance has the distinctive green tone of fresh cilantro, and does not have a stinkbug-like scent, but is herbal and a little similar to lavender ESS. The main components are pinene, decanal, nonanal, and linalool. Incidentally, the synthetic fragrance that smells like fresh cilantro is called Mandarin ALD, which is contained in mandarin, a type of citrus.
